Commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat, the province of Noord-Holland has constructed a new bridge across the Vecht near Muiden: The Spieringbridge. Local traffic is separated from passing traffic of the Highway (A1). In both directions the local roads to Muiden in and Weesp will be adapted. In terms of atmosphere and amenity value, the new bridge connects to the existing lock and castle, but has a contemporary character. A mechanism has been chosen consisting of two steel arms in the shape of a triangle with enlarged hydraulic cylinders. The edge profile of this resembles a tense muscle. The halyard of the movable part has a composite deck. This deck is clamped between two steel lifting girders, which contain the pivot points for movement. These pivot points also absorb the braking forces. Waiting road users do not have to be bored, because when open, the underside of the bridge deck shows a poem about the Vecht.
We have been commissioned by Jansen and Venneboer to design the hydraulic installation of this bridge. Combination K. Dekker B.V. – Ooms Construction B.V. has led this project.
