Trailing suction hopper dredger Spauwer

Molenmaker techniek B.V. has been commissioned by Den Herder to design, produce, install and test the necessary cylinders, pipework and drive units for a completely new ship “a so-called trailing suction hopper dredger” named Spauwer. This is a vessel for sand and gravel extraction from the seabed. The ship has a length of 142.8 [m] and a beam of 21.6 [m], the maximum dredging depth is 65 [m] and the ship has a loading capacity of 13 060 [tons]. MTS has supplied over 100 cylinders, and 15 km of piping and the necessary hydraulic drive units equipped with motors of 6 mW for more than 100 different users with a total tank capacity of 50 [mᶾ]. The drives fulfill 10 dozens of rotating movements for tires, winches and spud poles. The minerals extracted are distributed in the cargo space, when unloading the minerals are removed trough a grab on a conveyor belt that then transports the minerals to the quay.
